RESEARCH
We address fundamentally geobiologic questions via the sedimentary record. Many of our projects investigate the co-evolution of the Earth and its biosphere.
A small sample of current projects and field localities:
• Stromatolites: what do they really mean?
• Big bacteria, small eukarotes in the fossil record--Does size matter?
• Geobiology of the end-Permian and end-Triassic extinctions
• The evolution of continental freeboard through time, links to biotic evolution and global biogeochemical cycles
• Precambrian-Cambrian Transition
• Terminal Proterozoic ocean chemistry and geobiology
• Cambrian Substrate Revolution
• Life during Snowball Earth
• Microbial-Sediment Interaction
• Archean and Proterozoic biogeology
• Carbonates!
• Coated Grains
• Trends in ooids and diagenesis through time
• Mixed siliciclastic-carbonate environments and their development
