The Honshu Metropolitan Project

The Honshu Metropolitan project is a collaborative project within Japan to obtain more information about the source fault regions under the metropolitan areas of Kanto (Tokyo region) and Kinki (Osaka region).

A focus of Univ. Tokyo / ERI is to image the subducting Phillipine Sea plate as potential regions for future damaging earthquakes. USC is applying crustal seismology analysis methods to vertical incidence and wide-angle active source profiles collected by ERI.
